The Jews used the blood of the Calf and the curse of the death of the first born "passed over" them. Exodus 12 explains in more detail but I will put some verses from there here: "For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. 13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt."- Exodus 12: 12&13 God instructed them to put lamb's blood over their door post to be saved from the judgement. PASSOVER= PASCHA= FASIKA in Geeez God "passed over" them and did not judge them because of what? because of the blood of the lamb For us CHRIST IS THE LAMB- He is the the official sacrifice and His Holy Blood over us causes God's judgement to also "passover" us Not because we are Holy but because He is merciful and covers us with His blood. He is the new lamb and the last sacrifice. So when we partake of Holy Communion or Christ's Holy flesh and Blood, He sees His sacrifice and His blood and forgives us, not because we are good or Holy but because of His own blood. Thats why we celebrate Fasika or Easter I like to say Fasika more because it has a deep meaning. God bless
