On the 21st of Meskerem of the Ge’ez calendar, we remember the fathers of our church who gathered to renounce heresy. Since this day fell on the feast of St. Mary-she is known to be St. Mary of the multitude--for a multitude of Fathers gathered on this feast of St. Mary.
In the 4th century, there was a man named Arius who received the priesthood in Alexandria. Arius began teaching outside of the dogma of our church saying “The Son is also a creation, not equal as Creator.” With one heart, & through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the 318 fathers of the Council of Nicea denounced the teaching as heresy, & excommunicated Arius. They explained that our Lord, God, & Savior Jesus Christ is God; & they established the beginning of the Nicene Creed & other rites of our church.
"that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God" Lk 1:35. The Son is `born of the Father before all ages'. The Father witnessed to Him in the second Psalm saying, "You are MY Son today I have begotten You" Ps 2:7. St. Paul quoted this saying, "For to which of the angels did He ever say: You are My Son, Today I have begotten You ... But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him" Heb 1:5-6.
What are YOU? a man, or the son of a man?
BOTH. Christ is God, and the son of God! His nature is fully Divine. And later took flesh, without mingling, mixing or confusion.
"All things were made through Him" & "He was in the world, & the world was made through Him, & the world did not know Him" Jn 1; how could He then create the world if He is not God? Jn 1:3, "All things were made through Him & without Him nothing was made that was made" & "He was in the world, & the world was made through Him" Jn 1:10. The Lord Jesus Christ about Himself, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven & on earth" Matt 28:18. It was said about angels that they are sons of God Job 1:6 & 38:7. As for Christ, He is the Only Son which means that He is the only One of His Nature and Essence. Jn 3:16 & 18; 1:18 & 1Jn 4:9
