“He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”
Job 8:21
Job was a man of God. Satan wanted to prove that Job only loved God because of the many blessings he had been given. God knew that Job would handle anything Satan threw at him, so He allowed Satan to test Job. Job had anchored himself so deeply in God that when everything- family, friends, wealth, status, and health- was taken away and it seemed he had nothing to live for, he still committed himself to God. Jobs' heart and mind were set on eternity. He loved his God and lived a life of integrity to the end. God provided His faithfulness as He restored Job’s health and family, giving him twice as much wealth as he had before. There is great security when everything you live for is stored up in heaven.
May we follow in Job’s footsteps, and bury ourselves in Christ so that He can bury our burdens, worries, fears. As Christ is carrying our weight for us we can finally put our arms down with relief, to gain rest from all that suffering. Our aching arms holding all that baggage can rest. Like Christ Himself said; “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
God uses our brokenness as building blocks to restore Joy.
