The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church Biblical canon
The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo church biblical canon is categorized into two parts: the narrower canon and the broader. The narrower canon consists of biblical books that are identical to the western bible. The Narrower Canon also contains book of Enoch, Jubilees, and three books of the Meqabyan. This differs slightly from the broader canon as it consist of nine additional books which include the books of Covenant, Four Books of Sinodos, a book of Clement, and Didascalia.
The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church has the biggest number of books when compared to other faiths. For example, the protestant bible usually contains 66 books, the Roman Catholic Bible 73, and the Eastern Orthodox Bibles comprises of 76 books. The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church has 46 books of the Old Testament and 35 books of the New Testament with a total canonized books of the Bible to 81 all of which are accepted by other Orthodox and Oriental Christians. These are the following:
