Stand firm in the faith [1 Cor. 16:13]

When Satan revolted against God, Archangel Gabriel  calm and give a blessed courageous word to all the angels saying, “ Let’s stand firm [in Lord], till the Lord reveals Himself to us”. Nowadays we are listening and reading so many conflicting, inaccurate messages about what is happening in our church especially from the renewal [Tehadiso] Movement based in Atlanta. There is a beautiful saying that goes like, “a mind that is not blessed with righteous thinking, always defaults to error”. It is crucial for all the faithful to recall the blessed words of courage and have confidence and faith in the Lord, like that of Archangel Gabriel, to stand firm in Orthodox Faith and be strong regardless of what comes around our ears.

God who is the source of all truth always reveals Himself. A timely press release from the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Holy Synod has reached to the ears of those who were waiting patiently and standing firmly in faith.  The Press release reminds us all the faithful to stand firm in faith while the Holy Synod is working diligently for the peace of the Holy Church with the combined effort of the“Unions of Monasteries”(Simret Gedamat) and council of church scholars. The  Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Holy Synod had issued a press release on August 8, 2016 announcing the historic progressive event of unity and reconciliation within the Holy Church regarding Abune Antonios’s case. The press release at that time reminded all faithful especially in diaspora to be  vigilant and aware of  those who want to use this opportunity to promote a hidden agenda of divisiveness instead of unity within the Holy Church. The Holy Synod’s press release today reiterate to all faithful to be cautious against false teachers and inaccurate messages about the process of reconciliation and peace within the Holy Church by those who oppose peace; and strongly advice the faithful to heed further notification that comes only from the Holy Synod with prayer and patience.

According to Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church Tradition, the Holy Synod has the ultimate and final say regarding Orthodox faith, order and its practices, has the ability to legislate and execute,  and preserve the Holy Tradition and teaching once received from the Lord first and through the Holy Apostles and saints later.

The Holy Synod’s press release reminds that all Church affairs including the  ongoing process of reconciliation within the Church are spiritual; and  express the Church’s power and ability to resolve its internal affairs with its own combined efforts of church scholars, monastic fathers and all its faithful.

May God bring Peace to our Church

May the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God, St Mary and all Saints be with the Holy Fathers.
